I am a fervent believer in ‘abstract’ ballets; pure movement arranged in time and space holds a never ending fascination for me. But more and more, I feel myself drawn to dances depicting all things human. In Sonatine, an extended solo for a dancer to an early composition by Stockhausen, these two approaches alternate.
