In centuries past, theatrical dances were rather formal, with strict sequences of entrances and exits and a preference for simple geometric shapes and formations (even the titles - “Entrée”, “Pas de Deux”, “Pas de Quatre” - promised etiquette.) Pas De... , is a modern-day version which slightly distorts these conventions: at times there is very little or no music, movements remain incomplete or twisted, and steps are repeated obsessively.
