Klavierstück

The piano takes center stage in Klavierstück (‘piano piece’), Magloire's very personal ode to his instrument. "The piano, this oddly-shaped piece of furniture and magical source of sounds, is so central to my life that it has earned the starring role in my ballet," he says. "Without moving an inch, it commands the stage by its sheer presence." To a vigorous score by German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, two dancers surround the piano, dancing and carefully listening.
