
Misleading? Trio op. 6 is definitely not the neutral abstract ballet that the title suggests. A danse noire that deploys in 14 connected sections, it is both eery and sensual. Rolling along to Bartók's short piano pieces, it juxtaposes quirky solos with sculptural groupings. As the piece goes on, it dissolves into unexpected, quiet floor work, before rallying for a dizzying finale.
