Greetings,

A happy, healthy and very inspiring New Year! To this day I am not quite sure what exactly we celebrate on New Year's, but the idea of renewal appeals to me. And the idea of changing habits. Change and renewal are also themes appearing in the new ballets for our upcoming show. Both of them are using contemporary music, enticing us to discover new forms of expression. Speaking of change: we are going to perform this program twice, on two subsequent nights. Sold out houses are great, but we hope this way no one will have to be turned away at the door! There are other changes too: a new dancer, a new website... See for yourself!

Upcoming Performances

February 2nd & 3rd, 2007

Two new works will receive their world premiere in our upcoming performance, and both highlight our focus on contemporary composers this season. Deborah Lohse choreographed a ballet to music by David Lang (see composer portrait below), and Miro Magloire created a new work to Luciano Berio's seminal Sequenza for solo violin. In addition, audience favorites Silk (music by Tartini) and Mostly Soft (music by Schubert) are back on the program.

The last two performances were sold out, so don't wait and get your tickets today!

Friday, February 2nd at 8:30pm &
Saturday, february 3rd at 8:30pm

New York City Center Studio 4
130 West 56th St, 4th floor (betw. 6th and 7th Ave)

Our New Website

More, Bigger, Better!...

We have changed the look of our website. It is easier to navigate, looks nicer and will hold more information. There are even separate sections for presenters and the media. We've added some color, too... Take a look! And if you come across anything that needs to be fixed, don't be shy - let us know! The makeover will continue as we add some more bells and whistles...

Composer Portrait

David Lang

This season, our musical focus is on contemporary composers. In addition to the late Luciano Berio, our upcoming performance will feature a work by David Lang choreographed by Deborah Lohse. Lang, born in LA in 1957, is widely known as the co-founder of New York's legendary music festival Bang on a Can. His spellbinding music of fractured rhythmic patterns and luminous pockets of harmonic sound can seem deceptively simple, but it is fiendishly difficult to play. Deborah Lohse chose his Vent and This Was Written By Hand for her new ballet, building on Lang's unconventional use of time and repetition.

The Buzz!

The Latest From Our Artists...
Lauren Toole

Lauren Toole's performance in Silk and Velvet last fall was named in Pointe Magazine's "Very Important Performers of 2006" list - congratulations!... Which makes us twice as happy that she will be back in these parts in our two next programs... Damien Johnson is still guesting in London, but will return in March... Violinist Erik Carlson is back with us in our upcoming show, where he will tackle Berio's seminal Sequenza VIII among other pieces... The newest company member is Emily Vonne SoRelle, who will join us for our next show...

A Seasonal Idea...

Keeping the Wheels Turning

We may be the most cost-efficient ballet company around: although our budget is only a fraction of what others have, we manage to produce countless new works!

But occasionally we have to swallow our pride and confront reality. The reality is that our costs still outpace our income. This spring will be an especially challenging time, with three different programs in preparation from now through June. We urgently need your support, whether it is small or large, to be able to continue our work...

With the best wishes for the New Year,

Miro Magloire
