Lisa Jo Sagolla, Backstage, April 2008

"New Chamber Ballet is like a diamond....featuring fine dancers, adventuresome music for violin and piano, and the chance to see work by Constantine Baecher, who is worth keeping tabs on....and don't forget Mr. Magloire."
Claudia LaRocco, The New York Times, June 2008

The New York based New Chamber Ballet will appear in Philadelphia's Rock School in a program of works by founder/director Miro Magloire and a World Premiere by guest choreographer Constantine Baecher, an American dancer currently with the Royal Danish Ballet. Music for Baecher's (as yet untitled) work is by Martin Stauning, a former dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet-turned-composer.

ByMiro Magloire are five works:
Romantic Pieces / Dvorak
Moments / Salvatore Sciarrino
Echoes / Webern
Dreams / music by Miro Magloire
Sonatine / Karlheinz Stockhausen

Founder/director Miro Magloire was born in Munich, Germany, and started his career as a composer, studying classical composition at the Cologne Conservatory. During his studies, he fell in love with dance and moved to New York to study at the schools of Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, and others. He founded his New Chamber Ballet five years ago, and the company has risen rapidly in popularity, appearing regularly in five short annual seasons in the City Center Studios, and on tour to Bermuda. Miro, who has also created ballets for the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and the Cologne Ballet Academy in Germany, was the subject of a full page profile in the Arts & Leisure Section of The New York Times of June 22, 2008.
