SOPRANO AMY SHOREMOUNT-OBRA TO APPEAR AT NEW CHAMBER BALLET'S MOZART CELEBRATION ON APRIL 1ST, 2006

03/27/2006 - New York, New York – Soprano Amy Shoremount-Obra will appear as a special guest at the New Chamber Ballet's Mozart Celebration on Saturday, April 1st, 8pm at City Center’s Studio 4 in Manhattan. The evening is a tribute to Mozart for his 250th anniversary, and Ms. Shoremount-Obra will perform a selection of songs by the composer. The performance will also include three ballets set to chamber music by Mozart. Admission is $15 ($10 for students with ID and seniors). Amy Shoremount-Obra was a National Semi-Finalist and New York Regional Winner of the 2004 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. A student of Marlena Malas, Ms. Shoremount-Obra has earned her Artist Diploma from the Juilliard School and her Bachelor and Masters degrees from the Manhattan School of Music. She has appeared in concert and recital at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Riverside Church, and the Sheldon in St. Louis, MO, among others, and has performed at the Spoleto Festival in Italy. She was a 2003 Finalist in the George London Competition, the recipient of the 2005 Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation and the Juilliard School, and the recipient of the 2003 Hugh Ross Award for a Singer of Unusual Promise from the Manhattan School of Music.
