NEW CHAMBER BALLET TO CELEBRATE MOZART WITH WORLD PREMIERE
PROGRAM TO INCLUDE GUEST ARTISTS AND LIVE MUSIC
01/17/2006 - New York, New York – The New Chamber Ballet will present an evening of new ballets with live music on Saturday, February 11th, 8pm at City Center’s Studio 4, 130 W 56TH St between 6th and 7th Ave. The program will include works by Artistic Director Miro Magloire and guest choreographers Deborah Lohse and Constantine Baecher, as well as a guest appearance by former NYCB dancer Deborah Wingert. Admission is $15 ($10 for students with ID). Tickets can be purchased online at www.smarttix.com or by phone at (212) 868-4444.
Mozart Celebration – Celebrating the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birth, the program will be highlighted by two ballets set to the composer’s music. The first ballet, set to the Violin Sonata K.377, is a meditative Pas de Trois choreographed by Miro Magloire. It will be performed by Elizabeth Brown, Damien Johnson and Denise Small. The second ballet, Magloire’s Life, is set to the Violin Sonata K.306 and was given its world premiere last fall. The three intricate solo parts will be danced by Elizabeth Brown, Christin Hanna and Denise Small.
Guest Choreographers - The remainder of the program will feature new works by two guest choreographers, Deborah Lohse and Constantine Baecher. Lohse’s Just Holding On was inspired by her work with the mentally ill. Set to Mad Rush by Philip Glass, it will be danced by Elizabeth Brown and Candice Thompson. Constantine Baecher’s Wanderlust, set to piano music by Franz Schubert, is a Pas de Deux inspired by Chekhov's The Lovers. It will be performed by Christin Hanna and Damien Johnson. Baecher currently dances for the Royal Danish Ballet, and this will be his first work for the New Chamber Ballet.
Guest Appearance - The evening will conclude with a guest appearance of former New York City Ballet dancer Deborah Wingert in Song, a solo choreographed for her by Miro Magloire.
Live Music – The music will be performed live by the New Chamber Ballet’s musicians, violinist Erik Carlson and pianist Melody Fader.
This performance is made possible in part through the sponsorship of The Field.
