AN EVENING WITH THE NEW CHAMBER BALLET

NCB TO PRESENT TWO WORLD PREMIERES AND TWO RECENT WORKS ON SUNDAY, APRIL 10TH, 2005

LIVE MUSIC TO ACCOMPANY ONE OF THE NEW BALLETS

 

4/1/2005 - New York, New York – The New Chamber Ballet will present an evening of new ballets on Sunday, April 10th, 7pm at City Center’s Studio 5, 130 W 56TH St between 6th and 7th Ave. The program will include two world premieres by Miro Magloire, as well as two recent ballets. In a company premiere, one of the new works will be accompanied by live music. Admission is $15 ($10 for students and dancers). Reservations and information are available at (212) 246-5758.

New Ballets – The first of the two world premiere ballets will be a solo to a score by American composer Morton Feldman, danced by Denise Small. The second premiere, Trio Op. 12, features three dancers in a lively ballet to Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano Op 12 No 2, danced by Elizabeth Brown, Christin Hanna and Julia Welsh. The evening will include performances of two older works by Magloire, Air, a solo set to music by Toru Takemitsu, and Trio Op.6, to piano music by Béla Bartók.

Live Music – In a first for the New Chamber Ballet, the premiere of the new ballet Trio Op. 12 will be accompanied by live music. Beethoven’s violin sonata will be interpreted by violinist Erik Carlson and pianist Melody Fader. Mr. Carlson is a  recent Juilliard graduate who this season has been performing both in New York and Europe. Ms. Fader, also a recent Juilliard graduate, has a busy performing career that has brought her among others to the Spoleto Festival in Italy. For both artists this is the first collaboration with the New Chamber Ballet.
