AN EVENING WITH THE NEW CHAMBER BALLET AND GUESTS
NCB TO PRESENT RECENT WORKS AND A WORLD PREMIERE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19TH, 2005
2/7/2005 - New York, New York – The New Chamber Ballet will present an evening of new ballets on Saturday, February 19th, 8pm at City Center’s Studio 5, 130 W 56TH St between 6th and 7th Ave. The program will include three recent ballets by Miro Magloire, as well as a world premiere by choreographer and performer Deborah Lohse. Ballets – The works presented will include a quartet, a trio, a duet and a solo. The first work on the program, Duet Op. 9 by Miro Magloire, is a hypnotic duet set to music by American composer Morton Feldman. The next work, Trio Op. 11, also by Magloire, features three dancers in a lively ballet to Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet Op 20 No 5. In a world premiere, guest choreographer Deborah Lohse will present her new solo Elias. The evening will conclude with another world premiere, the newly completed version of Magloire's of Valses Op10, a rousing work for four dancers set to Venezuelan waltzes for guitar.
Company Debut - This performance is also the debut appearance of new company member Damien Johnson with the New Chamber Ballet. Mr. Johnson, who has previously performed with the American Repertory Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem, will create a role in the world premiere of the completed version of Valses Op10.
