Dear Dancer,
Thank you for your interest in New Chamber Ballet. We have received an increasing number of inquiries recently, especially from younger dancers. To save you some time and effort, here are a few general remarks about auditioning for NCB:
First - we currently do not have any vacancies. The idea behind New Chamber Ballet is a long-time collaboration with a small group of dancers. Accordingly, the turnover rate is quite low.
Second - New Chamber Ballet has no "corps de ballet" positions. In our small group, strong technique is very important but so are artistry, experience and personality. As a result, you cannot audition by simply sending a video, picture and resume; nor are there open auditions. The current company members all joined after I had the chance to see them work over an extended period of time. This may be cumbersome, but it ensures that we hit the ground running.
Third - New Chamber Ballet is a tall company. The women are at least 5'7", the men at least 6' tall.
Therefore, you should only consider New Chamber Ballet if you are already (or will soon be) living in the New York City area. Come see the company perform, and if you find you are really interested in the work we do, contact us by e-mail to arrange an audition.
Miro Magloire,
Artistic Director
